It has been a long time since my friend Holen and I talked about getting dinner and a movie together, so tonight we finally did. We headed out to a fantastic little Thai restaurant, called Basil. One of my favorites and only three blocks from my house. I love it because of it's atmosphere, but mostly because their food is always so great. We both thought we would try something different from the menu, but went with our usuals. She had the pineapple chicken fried rice, which is actually served in half of a pineapple. And I had the Param Chicken; basically chicken smothered in a really tasty peanut sauce. Both are highly recommended. Well, after good grub and a great chat we decided to head over to the theater to see what was playing. We chose this great new drama with John Cusak, Joan Cusak, and Amanda Peet, called Martian Child. What a great flick. About a recently widowed man who decides to adopt a child. The boy believes he is from mars and is really quite troubled. But John's character takes him in even though he knows he's probably headed straight for a train wreck. The movie was so wonderfully written, and touched both Holen and I so much. For those of you who don't know, Holen is unfortunately a recent widow herself. She said it was actually comforting. So check it out!!!! I posted the trailer. Enjoy!
